Weeeee - the Babyon 5 soundtrack cds I ordered directly from Sonic Images arrived yesterday :-)

I can now add The Coming of the Shadows, Z'Ha'Dum (I've been wanting this one for so many years - I remember looking for it back when I was watching B5 the first time round in 1996ish), Falling towards Apotheosis, The Long Night, Into the Fire, Objects at Rest, Sleeping in Light (I start blubbing every time I listen to it - I'm such a big baby), In the Beginning and The Best of Babylon 5 to my collection. :-D

Plus, a very kind person at Sonic Images wrote on the package that it was worth $3, so I didn't have to pay import taxes, which I thought was very nice *hugs kind person*.

The Objects at Rest one is reallly quite beautiful.

Should be working on the music school's newsletter instead of hanging around the internets. Gah.

Will be going to see Ratatouille with JD later today - really looking forward it.
*waves to all*

Eek - I just realised that I haven't updated in exactly two months ...

September was absolute madness, as it is every year, with music school starting and all the organisation/problem solving/phoning/headdesking an all. There still are a fair amount of things that aren't going smoothly yet, but it's getting there.

Work rambling )

Seems Iike I won't get bored :-P ... but it's all good. I basically really like the job, and when everything calms down a bit it won't be so nervewracking.

***

As for non work stuff - I'm thoroughly enjoying The Sarah Jane Adventures :-), especially the last two episodes. Is it me or is there a distinct Old!skool feel to the show?

[livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne and I rewatched all five seasons of Babylon 5 - damn, I love that show, especially seasons 2 and 3. (I still can't stand Byron though, but at least there are great G'Kar-Londo scenes to make up for it (almost)). I had to cure my post Sleeping In Light depression by ordering a whole bunch of the episodic soundtracks ... *whistles*.

Watched The Prestige the other night - that's one cool movie.

Oh, and I treated myself with a Wii. Haven't had all that much time to play yet, but it's great fun - especially trying to beat [livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne at tennis :-P

That's all for now - I'll try not to let the not-updating get out of hand. Plus, there are still Scotland pictures waiting to be posted.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I actually really liked the episode. Sure, there was cheese, and there was wonky science, but on the whole I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

A more detailed review later - just one observation for now:

In what way ... )
We just realised that I started watching Babyon 5 ten years and eight days ago - Episode 1x10 "Believers" on the tenth of April, 1996. My God - time flies.

More comprehensive post (mostly Who) when I'm done with the stuff I still have to do for the music school. Wah - I hate the end of the holidays (and organizing stuff). Poor me ;-P

Squee!

One of my icons made third place at [livejournal.com profile] bstg_icontest. My first placing in an icon contest ever, so double yay. It's weird - I didn't really like the way the icon turned out - but what the hell :-)

These were the entries (No.1 is the one that got third place).

Comment and credit if you take :-)

On the real life front - decided to splurge and bought myself a 512 MB mp3player. Very neat :-D. Though it turns out 512 MB is not as much space as I thought it was *blush*. Maybe I shouldn't just start putting on tons of random songs from my playlist ...
Been really out-of-the-loopy lately -desperately trying to get my thesis finished. thesis babble under cut )

Though then I'll have to start practicing recorder like crazy. My first exam in on October 4th, which is kind of soon, especially since I haven't practiced at all lately with all the thesis stuff. But I have played all the pieces before, so I hope it's going to work out.

Teaching will start on Monday as well - with all the stress of trying to accommodate all the pupils and get a more or less functioning timetable going. It always works out in the end, but it involves a lot of phoning and head-aches.

One last thing - found two nice icon contest pages: one for Babylon 5 ([livejournal.com profile] babylon5contest) and one is for Battlestar Galctica ([livejournal.com profile] bstg_icontest). Both places look like fun :-)

Now - off to pick up my thesis. Wish me luck! :-)

Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] dawn_e_h

I had to laugh out loud when I got this answer. Guess I'm still a B5er at heart. :-P

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

Hmm - should make/find some other fandom icons (though maybe not now).
So, finally got this all set up - now I have to try it out. *me curious*

Then back to working on thesis. Or to watching a B5 episode with commentary with my brother ... "Severed Dreams", JMS commentary - sounds better than work ;)
